The IHH Sky Race™ has reached new heights, welcoming more than 8,000 participants from 78+ countries across its two-day event at Merdeka 118.
Participants took on 118 floors and 2,845 steps to reach Level 118 of Malaysia’s tallest building.
The achievement adds to two records set by The Sky Race™ in 2025 – Highest Towerrunning Race at 503 metres and Most Finishers in a Towerrunning Race/Event with 5,602 finishers.
Japan’s Ryoji Watanabe won the men’s race in 15:38, finishing just one second outside Soh Wai Ching’s 2025 course record.
Malaysia’s tower-running champion Soh Wai Ching took second in 15:48, while Australia’s Mark Bourne finished third in 16:33.
In the women’s race, Croatia’s Tea Faber claimed victory in 18:07, setting a new women’s course record.
Finland’s Laura Manninen took second in 18:36, followed by Japan’s Yuko Tateishi in 19:35.

From elite athletes to first-time climbers, families, friends and corporate teams, The IHH Sky Race™ brought people together to challenge themselves and reach new heights.
With IHH Healthcare Malaysia as Title Partner and Official Medical Provider, more than 200 medical personnel were on-site to support participants throughout the event.
The event also featured the Sky Race Village at Stadium Merdeka, turning the weekend into a full festival of sport, food, music, activities and community.
