From riding a super bike to a mountain bike, four passionate bike lovers started AGS Holeshot Bicycle in 2012, in a hive of activity – Kota Damansara.
“Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve is just nearby, we can go mountain biking everyday,” said gigglingly Syahril Lizal, the Director of AGS Holeshot Bicycle.
It isn’t just about shared hobbies, but ambition and commitment. So, they turned their passion for mountain biking into their profession. AGS Holeshot Bicycle was set up with an aim of connecting with the community and offering mountain biking products and services.
ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
AGS is abbreviated from Any Given Sunday.
Syahril and his partners started out as a bunch of avid riders mountain biking on Sundays to get their weekly adrenaline rush under the group #agsmtb. It is true that if you want to excel at something, you learn from the like-minded.
The local bicycle shop associates with the community and delivers extraordinary services that you do not easily find in other bicycle shops. “We don’t sell mountain bikes here,” said Syahril. Instead of competing with the peers, they focus on delivering customer-centric service. It is not about pushing customers into buying products, but understanding customers’ specific needs.
MORE THAN JUST A BIKE SHOP
The humble bike shop does not only provide services like new bike set up, bike custom and building, workshop repairs for mountain bike, road bike, dirt jump, and downhill, products like mountain bike accessories, but also bike rental, mountain biking advice, and group rides.
“We make our place feel home, comfortable, welcomed, and make customers come back again and again,” continued Syahril. AGS Holeshot Bicycle is not just a bike shop, it is also a place for the customers to lepak or simply talk over a cup of coffee!
In AGS Holeshot Bicycle, you can also find high end and prominent brands that are usually seen in professional races. They hold the distributorship for Galfer Brakes, Odi Grips, PNW Components, Joystick Components, 9point8, Kali Protectives, Light Bicycle Carbon Rims, and more.
IMPLEMENTING CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Apart from being a bicycle shop, AGS Holeshot Bicycle also executes CSR activities such as adopting mountain bike trails, funding local trail builders, and taking part in local and international races.
“We want to give back to the community by getting involved with the industry,” explained Syahril. Some involvements include starting a race team, the AGS Racing Team, investing in Young Riders Development Programme, scouting and supporting young talents from BMX Malaysia.
Muhammad Ridhuan, Khairy Razali, and Shahriel Haizatthe are not only the race team riders, podium racers, national athletes, but also certified mechanics at the AGS Holeshot Bicycle. They have the knowledge of riding, servicing, repairing, and also giving advices. They are very well versed in not only mountain bikes, but also all types of bicycles.
BECOMING BIGGER AND BETTER
AGS Holeshot Bicycle would not have been possible without the support and trust from its brand principles.
“There’s no overnight success for the downhill or enduro riders. It requires reliable products, training, and most importantly, a good after-sale service. We want to create a dependable bike shop for the customers,” said the Director.
Over the years, AGS Holeshot Bicycle has quickly established itself becoming the home shop of the local mountain biking community.
“It is challenging to keep up with the ever-evolving cycling world, but we will not stop developing better and more services offerings. We will continue to distribute additional brands, expand our reach and attract larger audiences,” dedicated Syahril concluded.
