The Norwegian broke free from Alex Yee (GBR) and Hayden Wilde (NZL) with about 800m to go and never looked back, crossing the line with a time of 1:45:04 to win gold!
What a performance from the 27-year-old, who becomes the first person representing Norway to win a medal in triathlon at the Olympic Games (he finished 13th in Rio five years ago).
Yee, making his Olympic debut, takes the silver, with Wilde coming home to take bronze.
Gold – Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR)
Silver – Alex Yee (GBR)
Bronze – Hayden Wilde (NZL)
