In the world of Malaysian distance running, few names command the same level of respect and admiration as Muhaizar Mohamad. A six-time Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) Malaysian Men’s Champion, Muhaizar has long been the face of grit, pride, and consistency in the local marathon scene.

At the recently concluded KLSCM 2025, the veteran runner faced one of his toughest battles yet – not against his competitors, but against his own body.

With just five to six kilometers left to the finish line, Muhaizar was struck by a severe cramp, halting what had been a strong run. The defending champion, who had set his sights on extending his dominance, suddenly found himself fighting not for the title, but for survival.

Still, true to his spirit, he refused to quit. Step by step, through a painful run-walk-run rhythm, he pushed forward. The crowd around Stadium Merdeka watched as the national marathon hero dug deep into his reserves, crossing the line to claim third place with a time of 2:44:37.

While the title slipped away, Muhaizar’s finish told a story far greater than victory – a story of endurance, humility, and the unbreakable will of a runner who embodies what the marathon truly means.

In a sport that tests both body and mind, Muhaizar once again showed that champions aren’t only made in moments of triumph, but in how they face pain, adversity, and defeat.

Because sometimes, the marathon doesn’t belong to the fastest runner – it belongs to the one who never stops moving.
