Last December, Kibiwott Kandie entered the history books as the world’s fastest half marathon runner after setting a record-breaking time of 57.32 in Valencia, wearing the adidas Adizero adios Pro – adidas’ fastest ever running shoe, shaving 29 seconds off the previous record which he also held.
The updated Adizero Adios Pro 2 which adidas presents as a symbol of their ambition to constantly evolve elite performance running footwear, is now even lighter and stiffer. It has been designed, developed, and tuned with some of the fastest athletes in the World resulting in a silhouette that is lighter than its predecessor.
Known as the fastest running shoe in the adidas lineup, the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2 is a carbon-plated running shoe that offers a comfortable and versatile configuration for mid to long distances.
The upper
This adidas’ fastest running shoe is made completely of recycled polyester engineered CELERMESH. The CELERMESH 2.0 upper has been optimized for speed with flexibility, breathability, and support, just like most high-performance adidas running shoes.
The new upper, with its ultrathin inner overlays, provides ventilated support that is extremely breathable and keeps feet cool mile after mile.
The midsole
The Adizero Adios Pro 2 features the carbon-infused ENERGYRODS propulsion system at the front, which delivers lightweight stiffness, which is now visible within the midsole.
In addition to delivering a smooth and bouncy ride, the midsole also combines highly responsive Lightstrike Pro cushioning at the rear, which gives high levels of energy return in incredibly lightweight construction.
The heel counter is slightly higher than the previous version and has two small squares of padding to wrap your ankle in all-day comfort. The heel plate helps reduce ankle fatigue while improving transitions during the gait cycle
The outsole
The Adizero Adios Pro 2 also features a Continental rubber outsole at the toe tip to create a traction zone that supports faster acceleration. This rubber helps ensure grip on wet surfaces, but also helps reduce wear and makes the shoes a bit more durable.
The outsole provides a 10mm drop for extra control and cushioning on the heel. A new lightweight heel construction keeps the foot tightly locked in through anti-slip lockdown, whilst softening the heel structure for increased comfort.
