The Merrell Trail Glove 5 Eco is an interesting shoe.

This trail running shoe optimises the foot’s natural ability to stabilise the body during rapid changes in movement. It is a versatile minimalist shoe that offers a barefoot-like experience on both road and trail.

With the goal to make a shoe as durable as possible, this shoe is made with eco-conscious materials.

Mesh and TPU upper

The TPU upper has been constructed using a 30% recycled mesh upper. The mesh acts as a lightweight second skin to ensure you are able to go the distance in complete comfort. It gives the shoe a truly barefoot sensation that doesn’t sacrifice comfort.

The new probiotic, machine-washable mesh upper controls odour, so can enjoy day to day walking, running, hiking and even climbing. It can also be your everyday companion as a casual shoe.

The 100% recycled Hyperlock TPU Film heel counter provides a locked-in feel whilst the traditional 100% recycled lace-up system allows an adjustable fit for added security keeping your foot in place eliminating distraction slipping and rubbing.

BLOOM performance midsole

Made of 10% recycled algae, it contains conventional flexible foams that still holds an abundance of cushioning qualities. The EVA midsole provides comfortable cushioning that offers extra protection against the uneven ground and minimises your discomfort at all times.

By providing unprecedented stability, agility, and comfort, the midsole supports the natural motion of the foot and providing comfort through the gait cycle and reduces harmful shocks and impact forces so you can go further for longer.

Vibram rubber outsole

The Vibram rubber outsole with 3mm lugs spanning the entire length of the shoe offers grippy, durable, and flexible performance over wet technical terrain.

Made from a minimum of 30% recycled rubber, the lugs have a flat base at the front, which provides the versatility that the Merrell Trail Glove have always enjoyed, so you can also use them to run on asphalt and compact roads without losing touch.

The seamless integration of the outsole rubber through the heel makes for smoother transitions, as well as bumpers the foot’s perimeter for more protection on rocky trails.
