The second Trail Titans Kiara Hill event made headlines with Min Xiang Lee’s remarkable performance, shattering the 16km course record set just a year ago. Clocking in at 2:07:20, Xiang Lee slashed an astonishing 10 minutes off the previous record of 2:17:58 held by Ben Hails.

Despite being a seasoned road racer, Xiang Lee is relatively new to trail running, making his competitive debut in this event. His familiarity with the Kiara Hill trails, where he usually trains, was pivotal in his decision to participate and ultimately break the course record.

Organized by Dirigo Events, the Trail Titans series aims to promote trail running, with over 200 participants tackling the challenging terrain across three categories: 16km, 10km, and the newly introduced 5km category designed to encourage beginners and families to participate in.

In the Men’s Open 10km category, Shamirul Taufiq claimed victory with a time of 01:17:46, followed closely by Lim Wei Seng at 01:17:50. Jia Qing Lim secured third place at 01:26:45.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s 10km Open category, Vithya Vijayakumare took the top spot with a time of 01:45:41, with Lena Jaentsch coming in second at 01:48:01. Joeann Too finishing third in 01:50:38.

Vithya’s participation was particularly special as it aligned with her travel plans back to Malaysia from Perth, where she currently resides.

The event not only showcased outstanding athletic achievements but also highlighted the growing popularity of trail running as a sport for all levels of enthusiasts.
