Not only does the latest version of adidas Ultraboost 22 get a women-specific upgrade and redesign, but it also creates a whole new fresh colorway.
The striking colorway was launched in conjunction with International Women’s Day to accommodate the specific foot shape and gait pattern of women runners.
Created with input from a fully female design team, product developers, testers, the Adidas running community, and even an online anatomy database of 1.2 million foot scans, the shoe is tied to a campaign to increase women’s running safety that now offers a very specific women’s fit and ride.
Upper
Offering 4 percent more energy return than the Ultraboost 21, the Ultraboost 22 features a new Linear Energy Push torsion system, which works in harmony with the Boost midsole and redesigned outsole for a comfortable stride.
The Ultraboost 22 uses the PRIMEKNIT+ fabric, a more precise fabric with greater support that allows greater comfort and lightness on the forefoot. The forefoot of the shoe is created with PRIMEBLUE. A high-performance recycled material containing at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic.
Midsole
The Ultraboost 22 is tailored to the female foot as it features a narrower heel fit and lower instep curve for a snug feeling, designed to smoother the Achilles tendon move and avoid heel slip and blisters.
The shoe is designed to fit comfortably snug, conforming around the shape of your foot. The heel cap sits perfectly, provides support around your heel, and doesn´t create any discomfort for your Achilles tendon. The midsole is raised on both sides of the heel and merges into a plastic sheath that provides extra support.
With the different instep height, heel anatomy, and women’s gait cycle trends, the women-specific running shoe better serves female runners with a more padded heel.
Outsole
The newest Ultraboost 22 has been designed around the female foot shape, with a lower instep height, a narrower heel fit, and a shallower forefoot profile on the toe-box, as well as a re-designed outsole, to better accommodate the female gait cycle.
The outsole features sections of firmer and softer material to alternately enhance traction and contribute to the resiliency of the midsole. It is constructed with Continental Natural Performance rubber that uses some recycled material in its construction and ensures extraordinary traction and durability in both wet and dry conditions.
